Gorilla Mountaineering is an independent adventure travel agency, founded by Sam Halligan in 2010. It has quickly grown into a successful business with a formidable reputation for organising high quality, successful and affordable expeditions to the worlds' wild places.

Sam is a qualified Summer Mountain Leader, single-pitch rock climbing instructor (SPA), multi-pitch rock climbing instructor (MPA) and aspirant International Mountain Leader. He has wilderness and high altitude first aid qualifications and 10 years experience of organising and leading expeditions to remote regions of the developing world. So why us?

Value for money. We don’t produce glossy brochures, we don't have an eye catching shop in the town centre and we don’t employ a celebrity line-up of Everest summiteers to guide our treks...which means that we can keep the cost of our trips down without compromising quality or safety. Compare our prices to the competitors. We have.

Personalised service. Sam has personally researched all of the trips, walked all of the trails and climbed all of the mountains advertised on this website. Sam leads most of the expeditions himself and will be on hand to deal with any problems, questions or queries you my have.

Professionalism. We may be a small company, but we have unrivalled knowledge of travel in the developing world, a network of trusted local guides and contacts, tested acclimatisation programmes and the experience to ensure you are well taken care of.

Sustainability. We are dedicated to responsible tourism with the aim that future travellers will see the places we visit in a similar or better state than today. Low volume and low impact travelling is one of the most effective ways of preserving the fragile areas we visit. We make sure that our local staff are properly paid, suitably equipped and well looked after. We take the welfare of our staff as seriously as that of our clients.
